If you’ve been there — or you’re in the middle of it right now — this one is for you.
What’s in This Mother of the Groom Comic
Episode 2 walks through the whole journey. Not the Pinterest version. The real one.
Here’s what happens panel by panel:
- The Invitation (Tears, of Course) — She’s holding the “You’re Invited” card and thinking, “My baby is getting married.” Yeah. We’ve all been right there.
- The Planning (Helpful, But Trying Not to Take Over) — The wedding ideas notebook is open. The plan is written. And right there on the list: “Don’t make it about me.” Relatable? A little too much.
- The Dress Shopping (I See You, Son) — She watches the bride try on dresses and thinks, “Look at her. She’s perfect for him.” That’s the good stuff, right there.
- The Big Day (All the Feelings) — Watching her son at the altar, dabbing her eyes: “My heart is so full (and so is my makeup bag).” Truth.
- The Dance Floor (Yes, I Will Dance!) — She is living her best life out there. “Today is about them… but I’m going to enjoy every second!” And she should.
- The New Chapter (Still Mom, Always) — Sitting with her son, holding the “Mom Fuel” mug, with a little sign that reads “Welcome to the family, my beautiful daughter.” And her thought? “Different role, same love. I’ll always be his biggest fan.”
Why This Mother of the Groom Story Resonates
It’s not just cute. It’s accurate.
The MOG experience is this whole mix of pride and grief and joy and restraint and love. All at the same time. And most of the time, nobody is really talking about that.
That’s what this comic does. It names it. It gives you permission to feel it.
The line at the bottom of Episode 2 says it all: “It’s not goodbye, my son… it’s love, growing bigger.”
That’s not a greeting card line. That’s real life.
The Part That Gets Me Every Time
Panel 2. The planning one.
She has her opinions. She’s writing them down. And right there in the plan, she’s also written a reminder to herself: “Don’t make it about me.”
That’s the whole MOG experience in one panel. You care deeply. You have ideas. And you’re also working really hard to hold back — because you love your son enough to let this be his and hers.
That is not nothing. That takes something.
More Episodes Are Coming
If you missed Episode 1, go back and read it. This comic series was made for moms of grooms who want to feel seen — not lectured, not managed, just seen.
Each episode is a little snapshot of what this season actually looks like from where we’re standing.
Because someone needed to make that comic. So we did.
Share this with another MOG who needs it today. She’ll know exactly what it means.
